DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team begins its 2021 home slate on Thursday night at Alumni Field as the Raiders host Bellarmine. Match time is set for a 6 p.m. kickoff.

Wright State (1-0) is coming off of a double overtime win on the road against Marshall last week, giving first year head coach Travis Sobers his first victory. Early in the second extra session, Wright State keeper Jessika Seward snatched a save and the Raiders quickly went on the counter attack. Destiny Johnson beat her defender deep in the Marshall end and was taken down in the box to set up the penalty kick winner from Olga Massombo. Johnson got Wright State on the board in the first half, finding the back of the net off a Massombo pass in the 24th minute to take the early lead.
 
Bellarmine (0-0-1) comes to town following a 1-1 tie at home against Evansville last week, while its second scheduled contest against Chicago State, originally slated for Sunday, was canceled due to COVID issues with Chicago State. Scoreless at the half, Bellarmine's Katie Gawrys scored her first career goal in her collegiate debut minutes into the second half, but Evansville later knotted the game, eventually resulting in the tie.
 
Bellarmine ended the 2021 spring with an overall record of 2-6-3, with a 2-3-3 mark in the SoCon. Wright State and Bellarmine will face off for the first time in program history.
 
Thursday will mark the first of two contests for the Raiders this weekend, as Wright State will hit the road to take visit Oklahoma State in a Sunday night meeting.
