DAYTON – Despite a scoreless first half, the Wright State women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Eastern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field in the Raiders final non-conference contest of the season.
The Raiders (2-4-1) now travel to Milwaukee to begin Horizon League play with an 8 p.m. ET matchup on Thursday night before returning home to host Youngstown State next Sunday afternoon.
Tied at the half Sunday, Eastern Kentucky (4-3) got on the board in the 51st minute on a free kick goal from Myla Sharpless after Wright State's
Lena Jenssen was given a red card following a hard takedown. The Colonials added to the advantage in the 62nd minute when Michaela Iacono found the lower left corner off an assist from Lucy Ream and then ended the afternoon's scoring when Hope Evans converted off a corner kick from Iacono.
Both sides had four shots at the break, but Eastern Kentucky finished the afternoon with a 17-9 overall shots advantage, including a 9-5 lead in shots on frame.
Lauren Borchert, Brettney Petrosky and
Michelle Rings all tallied two shots for the Raiders, while
Jessika Seward notched six saves on the other end.
