Raiders wrap up busy Friday of competition

The Wright State track and field program competed at two meets on April 22. The duo of Abigail Halsey and Alicia Neumeier raced at the Jesse Owens Classic on the campus of Ohio State, while the remainder of the team placed 10th with 36 points at the Otterbein Twilight in Westerville, Ohio.Â
In Columbus, Abigail Halsey was ninth out of 28 competitors in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:59.02. Alicia Neumeier placed 27th overall in the 1,500-meter run, crossing the finish line at 4:42.06.
At the Otterbein Twilight, the Raiders were at their best in the high jump, as five individuals finished in the top-eight spots. Melissa Siler was runner-up with a top clearance of 1.54 meters, while Amelia Harlow and Cierra Lively tied for fourth overall at 1.48 meters. Bekah Robertson and Tatiana Brown tied for eighth (1.48m).Â
Robertson qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles and placed fourth with a time of 15.44.Â
Alycea Ruhlen earned a top-10 mark in the 400-meter dash, as she took ninth at 1:02.88. Emma Carr finished 16th with a time of 1:06.76, while Kira Ball was 22nd (1:15.20) in the race.Â
As WSU's lone individual in the 5,000-meter run, Emma Johnson captured 10th with a time of 19:26.43.Â
In the 1,500-meter run, Nataly Dunes Diaz led WSU with a 10th-place finish at 5:22.76. Brooklyn Salyers and Anna Johnson were close behind in 16th and 17th overall, with times of 5:45.62 and 5:47.09, respectively. Dunes Diaz also ran in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line at 2:37.08.Â
The Raiders concluded competition in the 4x400 meter relay, as the quartet of Ruhlen, Dunes Diaz, Johnson, and Carr took sixth with a time of 4:47.13.Â
A trio of Raiders will resume competition tomorrow at the Jesse Owens Classic. As a team, Wright State will return to competition at the Horizon League Championship in Rochester, Mich., from May 6-8.Â
