DAYTON — The Wright State men's soccer team wraps up its season-opening four-game road stretch on Monday night when the Raiders take the short trip east to take on Ohio State. The Raiders and Buckeyes will kick off at 7 p.m. and the match is expected to be available on BIG+.
MATCH INFORMATION

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State went toe-to-toe with No. 14-ranked Akron for nearly 45 minutes Friday night, but it was not enough as the Raiders fell 5-1 on the road. Wright State played a solid defensive first half before Josef Paulus found the back of the net just before the break in the 44th minute to give the hosts the halftime advantage. Just two and a half minutes of game action later, Akron extended its lead on Dyson Clapier's score less than 30 seconds into the second stanza gave the Zips breathing room. Joe Kouadio's PK score in the 81st minute was the only offense for the Raiders.
SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES
The Buckeyes are off to the best start of a season (2-0-1) since 2010 when they started 4-0. Goalkeeper Keagan McLaughlin has posted back-to-back shutouts and has held opponents to just one goal over the first three games of the season. Ohio State is coming off a 6-9-1 mark with a 2-6 Big Ten record last year, with all six wins coming at home.
HISTORY VS. OHIO STATE
Wright State and Ohio State will meet for the 25th time, with the Raiders holding a 9-7-8 all-time mark against the Buckeyes. The first meeting in 1979 was a 2-2 tie, while this will be the first time the squads have squared off since September 4, 2017, a 2-0 OSU win.
THE LONG ROAD
Monday's contest at Ohio State ends a season-long four-game road stretch – the longest on the schedule – for the Raiders. The four straight road contests are the most consecutive true road contests since Wright State had four straight road games in 2018. The Raiders played a total of 6 consecutive games away from home to end the 2019 season, ending the regular season on the road at IUPUI before three Horizon League Tournament contests and two games in the NCAA Tournament.
INTERNATIONAL FLARE
Wright State's 2022 roster features six international players from Brazil, England, France, Portugal, Spain and Wales, while nine states are represented: Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas.
WELCOME TO THE TEAM
Wright State welcomes 10 new players to this year's roster – seven transfers and three freshmen. Uche Odemena, Cameron Radeke and Max Williams begin their collegiate careers this fall, while Jacob Adams, Noah Boffo, Kobe Perlaza, Dominic Ruffolo, Brady Shapiro, Logan Smith and Cole Werthmuller continue their careers in the Green and Gold.
HORIZON LEAGUE RAIDERS
Four Raiders received All-Horizon League honors last fall, including returners Reece Allbaugh (Second Team), Conner Osterholt and Brock Pickett (All-Freshman Team). Allbaugh finished the season with a team-leading 17 points in 2021 behind six goals and five assists as he played in 15 matches with eight starts and accumulated over 700 minutes of action. He scored all six of his goals during Horizon League play, including a hat trick against Cleveland State in a comeback win. Osterholt tallied a trio of goals, all in Horizon League play, with nine starts as he played in 16 matches and nearly 800 minutes. He finished the year with 25 shot attempts, the third-most on the Raider roster, while his 14 shots on goal were the most on the team. Pickett started seven matches and played in 15 matches overall last fall across just shy of 800 minutes.
NEXT UP
Following Monday's match, the Raiders will kickoff the home and Horizon League schedule against IUPUI on Saturday, the first of two straight home contests. Wright State is set for three of its next four games at home overall and following the Ohio State contest, will have an even mix of six home games and six road matches remaining on the regular season slate.
