MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The No. 5 seed Wright State women's soccer program fell to No. 4 seed Robert Morris 4-1 in the Horizon League Championship quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at the AHN Montour Junction Sports Complex.
The Raiders conclude their season with a 6-7-5 overall record and a 4-4-3 mark against conference opponents. Robert Morris (12-4-3) advances to the Horizon League Championship semifinals on Thursday at tournament host Milwaukee.
Kaylin Helinski paced Wright State's attack with three shots, highlighted by a header goal off an assist from
Mariella Hartmann in the 29th minute.
Lauren Borchert contributed with a team-leading two shots on goal, while
Ainsley Terada added a shot on frame in the first half.
Goalkeeper
Kiera Sarka tallied seven saves in net but allowed two goals in both periods. Sarka and defender
Kaitlyn Eyink were WSU's lone individuals to play the entirety of the match.
Robert Morris consistently pressured Wright State's back line with 17 total shots, 12 shots on goal, and six corner kicks. Shauna Gamble and Haleigh Finale found the back of the net for RMU in the opening half. Paloma Swankler and Kaoru Hayashi scored in the second half to put the match out of reach.
