GREEN BAY – Three players scored in double digits on Friday afternoon but the Wright State men's basketball team fell 88-77 at Green Bay as Trey Calvin played in his 134th game as a Raider, becoming the all-time leader in games played in Wright State program history.
Â
Wright State (6-7, 1-1 Horizon) now moves towards a Sunday matchup with Milwaukee, set to tip off at 3 p.m. ET on New Years Eve.
Â
Friday, the Raiders were paced by 23 points from both Trey Calvin and Tanner Holden, but Green Bay (7-7, 2-1 Horizon) always had an answer down the stretch in the back-and-forth contest.
Â
Green Bay jumped out of the gates to an early 10-point lead before Wright State chipped away throughout the remainder of the first half, going to the break with a 44-40 lead thanks to Calvin's jumper just before the horn. The Raiders began the second half with nine of the first 12 points to open up a nine-point advantage, later pushing the lead to 10 with 14 minutes to play, but the hosts battled back and tied the score at 60-all. The sides traded baskets for nearly four minutes, with the Raiders taking a two-point lead on Brandon Noel's layup with 7:30 to play, only to see Green Bay respond with the next 14 points over the next five minutes to gain control.
Â
Calvin tallied 16 of his 23 points in the first half, finishing the afternoon 10-of-23 shooting with a trio of three pointers, while Holden and Noel, who finished with 10 points, each pulled down nine rebounds as the pair combined to shoot 13-of-22 from the floor. AJ Braun just missed double digits with nine points.
