Raiders off to strong start at Marshall Invitational

The Wright State men's and women's track and field program wrapped up their first day of competition at the Marshall Invitational inside the Chris Cline Athletic Complex.
The Raiders finished with five top-three marks on the day, competing in four events.Â
Cierra Lively headlined the Raider women in the high jump, placing third with a clearance of 1.63 meters.Â
The quartet of Kaitlyn Miller, Kylee Thomas, Anna Johnson, and Emma Shigley raced to third place in the women's distance medley with a time of 12:35.44. WSU's Alicia Neumeier, Mia Wyngarden, Alycea Ruhlen, and Emma Johnson finished fourth in the event at 12:40.28.Â
Wright State had two groups compete in the men's distance medley as the only school in the event. Patrick Statzer, Mohamed Bilal, Ethan Neblock, and Alex McCarty earned a time of 10:47.90, while the foursome of Alan Fullenkamp, John Steimle, Blake Martin, and Michael Cole followed at 11:12.92.Â
Anthony Jiovani was second out of three competitors in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 3.70 meters.
The second and final day of competition will start tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. with the women's long jump.
