LAST TIME OUT
Wright State went 1-2 last weekend at the Hampton Inn Invitational, sweeping (RV) Loyola Chicago in the process. The Raiders opened the weekend pushing Texas A&M to five sets in a matchup that went back-and-forth all afternoon, while they also fell in four sets to tournament host Bowling Green.
WESSLING WEEKEND WRAP
Jenny Wessling was named to the Hampton Inn Invitational all-tournament team, one of seven players to earn the recognition, after finishing with 53 digs in 12 sets played, adding a service ace in all three matches along with 14 assists. Wessling has now had four or more assists in her last four matches, with eight last weekend against Louisville. The eight helpers against Louisville marked the third time in her career she's reached that mark (career-high is 14), while she passed out four or more assists seven times last year at High Point.
DAYTON INVITATIONAL
Wright State will open tournament action with a familiar foe in former Horizon League opponent UIC, squaring off for the 66th time. The Raiders ahd Ball State have 22 prior meetings and Wright State-Dayton will meet for the 62nd time on Saturday afternoon.
HELLO FAMILIAR FOE
Wright State and Dayton will face each other for the fourth straight season, dating back to the Spring 2021 season, and the fifth time overall in that time span. Prior to the Spring 2021 meeting, the teams hadn't met since the 2016 season and had only met four times since 2010.
KNOW THE FOES
- UIC has opened the season 5-2, with all seven matches coming at home. UIC notched a 22-10 overall record and a 13-5 conference record in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Flames fell to Drake in the MVC semifinal match to end their 2022 season. The Raiders will look to inch closer in the all-time series against their former Horizon League foe, with the Flames leading 37-28.
- Ball State has lost its last three matches and is 2-4 overall on the young season. A season ago, Ball State finished as the Mid-American Conference runner-up and received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. The Cardinals fell to Marquette in the first round of the NCAA tournament, but not before recording a 24-9 record overall and 15-3 mark in the MAC. The Cardinals lead the all-time series, 14-8.
- Dayton is off to a 5-2 start, all at home, and is coming off a Wednesday loss to Louisville. The 2022 season saw the Dayton finish as the runner-up in the Atlantic 10 conference. The Flyers tallied 20 victories and 14 defeats overall, including a 12-6 record in conference play. The Raiders swept the Flyers last year to come within one game of tying up the all-time series, a series the Flyers lead 31-30.

-
Megan Alders' 23 kills Thursday are now tied for her career-high with a 23-kill effort against Marshall in 2021. The three service aces for Alders were one shy of her career best four, set at Green Bay back in October 2019.
