Women’s Soccer Falls to Dayton

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team fell to the University of Dayton 5-1 on Thursday night. The Raiders lone goal came from Olivia Stroud in the final 15 minutes.
 
The Raiders finished with 10 shots, led by Elise Canter's three attempts, followed by Mariella Hartmann with two.  Caitlin Burger, Allison Charleston, Makenzie Chinn, Stroud, and Alyssa Thomas each added one shot on the night. Goalkeeper Kiera Sarka logged 66 minutes of play, tallying three saves. Erin Baker entered in the second half, recording one save.
 
Kaylee Pham was the only Raider to log all 90 minutes, closely trailed by Kailtyn Eyink's 85 minutes.
 
Wright State had five shots in the first half, beginning as Hartmann took WSU's first shot in the ninth minute, followed by Charleston in the 14th. Canter and Thomas each added shots in the 31st minute. Chinn added the final Raider shot of the half in the 43rd minute. The Flyers were up 1-0 at the half, as Diana Benigno scored in the eighth minute.
 
The Raiders added another five shots in the second half, as Canter opened with her second shot in the 53rd minute. Wright State's offense struggled, not adding another shot until the final 15 minutes of the night.
 
In the 78th minute, Stroud took advantage of a miscommunication between the Flyers' goalkeeper and a defender, sinking it into the bottom right corner. Canter recorded her third shot on the night in the 80th minute, swiftly followed by Hartmann in the 81st. Caitlin Burger added the final shot of the right in the 87th minute.
 
The Flyers tallied four goals in the second half, finding success in the 55th, 62nd, 70th, and 72nd minutes.
 
The Raiders will play again on Thursday, September 19, hosting Green Bay for the first week of Horizon League conference play. The game is set for a 7 p.m. kick off. Fans are encouraged to keep up with the action in-person with free admission. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and have live stats provided.
