Raiders Comeback to Take Down Oakland Wednesday Night

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team mounted a fourth-quarter comeback to take down Oakland 61-57 on Wednesday night in the Nutter Center. With the win, the Raiders kick off Horizon League play in the win column for the first time since the 2023-24 season.
Wright State (5-5, 1-0 HL) will continue Horizon League play on the road Sunday afternoon, December 7, at Purdue Fort Wayne. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
Claire led the Raiders with 17 points and 10 rebounds en route to her third double-double of the season. Olivia Brown led Wright State with three assists. Abbie Riddle scored a season-high eight points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers.
Wright State finished the first quarter on a 7-0 run to finish out the first quarter with a two-point lead. Oakland would take the lead before halftime, leading 28-22 heading into the locker room.
The Golden Grizzlies would extend their lead out to eight at the end of the third quarter before the Raiders would embark on a fourth-quarter comeback.
Wright State kicked off the fourth quarter on a 12-2 run with five points each from Henson and Olivia Brown and a layup from Grace Okih. Riddle hit a big three-pointer to extend the Wright State lead to two possessions with 21 seconds to play. The two squads exchanged free throws in the final seconds as the Raiders held their four-point lead to the final whistle.
In the box score, Wright State led Oakland in second-chance points (7-5) and bench points (21-2) and narrowly trailed in points in the paint (22-24).
