Raiders Drop Sunday Road Contest at Purdue Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, IN- The Wright State women's basketball team dropped its first Horizon League road contest of the season Sunday afternoon, falling to Purdue Fort Wayne 52-68.
Wright State (5-6, 1-1 HL) will resume non-conference play on Friday, December 12, on the road against Canisius. Tip-off in Buffalo is set for 6:30 p.m.
The Raiders got a balanced scoring attack with 8 different Raiders finding their way onto the box score. Claire Henson and Breezie Williams tied for the team lead with nine points apiece, followed closely by Rylee Sagester and Lauren Scott with eight points each. Williams also led the team in rebounds, snagging a season-high 10 and swiping three more steals.
Three different Raiders knocked down a three-pointer in the first quarter, with Elaina Rager, Sagester, and Scott all knocking down a shot from beyond the arc. Purdue Fort Wayne extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Wright State 20-11 in the period to jump out to a 12-point halftime lead.
The Mastodons came out of the halftime locker room on fire, shooting 46.2% from the floor in the third quarter, ballooning their lead to as large as 20 in the fourth quarter. The Raiders went on an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter to cut the lead as low as 10 points with 2:28 left to play. Purdue Fort Wayne would hit nine free throws in the final two minutes to ensure that the Raiders couldn't get any closer.
In the box score, Wright State led Purdue Fort Wayne in rebounds (38-36), second chance points (11-7), and three-pointers made (7-4). The Raiders trailed in points in the paint (22-36), fast break points (2-8), bench points (14-17), and steals (7-10).
