DAYTON – Brandon Noel tallied his fourth double-double in the last five games to pace four Raiders with double figure scoring nights as the Wright State men's basketball team rolled to a 91-73 Homecoming victory over IU Indy inside the Nutter Center on Saturday night.
Wright State (13-13, 7-8 Horizon) now readies to set out on its longest road trip of the conference season, with the Raiders trekking to Wisconsin for a pair of games beginning next Friday night at Milwaukee.
Against IU Indy (8-18, 4-11 Horizon), the Raiders used a 12-4 scoring run in the opening minutes to grab control of the night, closing the first half with the final eight points as part of a larger 14-4 run to take a 21-point lead into the locker room. Wright State tallied the first six points of the second half and never looked back, leading by as many as 25 points early in the final stanza with the margin never getting closer than 13 down the stretch.
Noel was a point shy of his double-double at the half, tallying nine points with 10 boards in the opening 20 minutes before finishing with 26 points and 16 rebounds, both game highs, while he added two assists, two steals and a block to complete his 35-minute stat line.
Keaton Norris continued his double-digit hot streak, tallying 17 points for his seventh double-digit scoring game in 10 contests since the start of January. Norris passed out seven assists and added six rebounds to go with his 6-of-7 shooting night.
Solomon Callaghan and
Jack Doumbia combined for 18 first half points as both finished the night with 12 points, with Callaghan connecting on a pair of three-pointers and Doumbia grabbing six rebounds.
Alex Huibregtse and
Logan Woods both notched nine points as each tallied a trio of three-pointers, while
Michael Imariagbe chipped in six points with seven rebounds and a pair of assists off the bench.
Wright State shot 63 percent overall (34-of-54) while connecting on 9-of-15 (60 percent) from deep, adding a 78 percent mark (14-of-18) from the free throw line. The Raiders held IU Indy to 40 percent overall shooting (23-of-58) with a 37 percent mark from three-point range (11-of-30), while the visitors were 62 percent (16-of-26) at the free throw line.
The Raiders finished with a 36-27 rebounding edge, grabbing 29 defensive boards, while Wright State notched 40 points in the paint in the win.
Sean Craig paced IU Indy in the loss with 26 points, while Paul Zilinskas had 22 points for the visitors.
