Raiders Record Third Straight Shutout

FORT WAYNE, IN- The Wright State women's soccer team started off Horizon League play on the right foot shutting out Purdue Fort Wayne 1-0 on the road Thursday night.

Wright State (4-5) will return home to Alumni Field on Sunday, September, 21 to take on Detroit Mercy. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and the first 50 fans through the gate will receive a Wright State soccer scarf.

The Raiders controlled the pace of play for a majority of the first 45 minutes. Wright State fired 11 shots on goal, five of which found the net, and had six corner kick opportunities.

Purdue Fort Wayne committed a foul within their own 18-yard box that would award Wright State a penalty kick in the 56th minute. Senior, Amber Branum, would step up to take the penalty kick for the Raiders and fire it past the Mastodon's goalkeeper to give Wright State their 1-0 lead.

The Wright State defense stepped up again recording their third consecutive shutout and extended their streak up to 308 minutes of play without allowing a goal. Kiera Sarka played all 90 minutes in minutes in net en route to her first solo shutout of the 2025 season.

In the box score, Wright State dominated in shots (25-5), shots on goal (10-2), and corner kick opportunities (9-1). The defense limited Purdue Fort Wayne to just two shots on net that Sarka handled with ease.
