DAYTON – Wright State men's basketball coach Clint Sargent has announced the signing of Landon Northrop this afternoon to an Athletics Aid Agreement to attend Wright State University and join the Raider program beginning this fall.
The newest Raider comes from Richland, Washington and Richland High School.
"We are excited to welcome Landen and his family to the program," Sargent said. "Landen is a state champion who understands what it takes to win. His shooting ability, size, competitiveness, and work ethic are all areas we feel like he will help improve our team and culture."
Northrop, a 6'5" guard, averaged 25.3 points per game last season as a senior while leading the Mid-Columbia Conference in steals (2.8), assists (5.2), assist/turnover ratio (4.1) and total field goal percentage while also having the best two-point and three-point percentages in the conference. He led Richland to its first state championship since 1979 and was named MVP of the Tournament, while the four-year starter was the backbone of Richland's four consecutive seasons undefeated in conference play, with 76 straight conference wins since his freshman campaign.
A member of the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaching Association's all-state team in 2025 and 2026 and the MVP of the 30th Annual 2026 Nike/WIBCA Northwest Shootout, Northrop also holds WIAA state single game tournament records for most points, most three-pointers made and most free throws made, while he also owns the WIAA career tournament records for total points, most three-pointers made and most free throws made. He finishes his prep career as the all-time leading scorer at Richland High School with 2,164 points and 99 career wins, while also setting the Richland High School single game record with 54 points in 2025. Northrop was the first player to ever lead Mid-Columbia Conference in scoring, assists and steals in the same season, set during the 2024-25 campaign.
Northrop becomes the eighth addition to the Wright State roster, joining transfers Nikola Djapa, Sam Johnson, CJ O'Hara and Chadlyn Traylor, along with fellow high school signees Terrence Hayes Jr., Noah Lewis and Tahj Martin.
