DAYTON/INDIANAPOLIS – Winners of their 10th Horizon League Championship in program history, the Wright State golf team is headed to the NCAA Championship for the third straight season, where the Raiders will take part in the Columbus Regional. The Raiders learned their destination Wednesday afternoon as part of the live Selection Show on the Golf Channel.
The Raiders will play a practice round on Sunday, May 17 before teeing off the regional with 18 holes each day from Monday-Wednesday, May 18-20 at the OSU Golf Club. Columbus is one of six regional sites that will all tee off around the country over those three days, with the National Championship teeing off May 29-June 3 in Carlsbad, California.
Wright State captured its 10th Horizon League Championship in Florida earlier this month, prevailing in a team playoff to win the title, while Shane Ochs grabbed the individual title. The team title was the Raiders' 10th Horizon League championship, tying them for the most in HL history with Cleveland State, while Ochs' captured Wright State's 10th individual title, which was already the most in Horizon League history.
Wright State has tallied seven top-five finishes in 11 total tournaments this season spanning the fall and spring schedule, highlighted by the Horizon League Championship and a sixth-straight team title at the Wright State Invitational this month. Ochs was named Horizon League Golfer of the Year and Conner Lash was named the HL Coach of the Year for the third-straight season. In addition to the two major awards, Ochs was joined on the All-League First Team by Timmy Hollenbeck.
