Women’s soccer remains at home Thursday

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team (1-0-1) will remain at home as they welcome IU Pennsylvania to Alumni Field on Thursday night. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m., and fans are encouraged to stop by the marketing table and spin the wheel for a chance to win Raider prizes.

Thursday will mark the first all-time meeting between Wright State and IU Pennsylvania.
LAST TIME OUT
Wright State freshmen Evan Snyder and Chloe Dunford each notched their first collegiate goals Sunday evening at Alumni Field to power the Raiders to their first win of the 2026 season, defeating Butler 2-1.
The Raiders and Bulldogs would feel each other out for the first 35 minutes before Snyder would open the scoring for the Raiders in the 37th minute. Shai-Lee Glaun would dribble the ball up the right wing and deliver a cross that found the rising head of Snyder, who nodded the ball past the Butler goalkeeper. Along with Snyder's first collegiate goal, Glaun would also record her first collegiate assist.
Butler would level the game at one goal apiece in the 61st minute when Lily Kiliski earned a penalty kick and then stepped up to the spot and converted, firing the ball into the back of the net.
The Raiders would score the eventual winner in the 86th minute when Ruby Dunlevy brought the ball up the left wing and played a pass into the six-yard box that found the right foot of Dunford, who slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Leigha Lauer had a phenomenal game in net for the Raiders, setting a new career high in saves with 10 and shots faced with 20.
In the box score, Wright State trailed Butler in shots (20-7), shots on goal (12-4), corner kick opportunities (4-3), and possession percentage (53-47).
#HLWSOC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Wright State sophomore goalkeeper Leigha Lauer has been named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Lauer had a phenomenal week in between the posts for the Raiders, leading the team to an undefeated first week of the season (1-0-1). Lauer played all 180 minutes in net for the Raiders across their first two contests.
In Thursday's season opener at Southern Indiana, Lauer recorded her first shutout of the season with three saves, keeping the Raiders in the game and forcing a scoreless draw. The sophomore was pivotal once again in the Raiders' 2-1 win over Butler Sunday evening, setting new career-best marks in saves (10) and shots faced (20). Lauer has not allowed a goal from open play so far this season, with Butler's lone goal on Sunday coming from the penalty spot.
This is the first career weekly honor for Lauer after appearing in nine games as a freshman a season ago.
ALL-LEAGUE RETURNEES
Wright State returns a pair of All-League performers from a season ago. Caitlin Burger returns for the Raiders in midfield after earning All-League First Team honors in 2025. Burger led Wright State with 12 points and five goals, while finishing second in assists with four. Kaitlyn Eyink returns for the Raiders after picking up All-League Third Team honors last season. Eyink played and started 19 games in defense for the Raiders, totaling 1486 minutes.
LAST SEASON REWIND
Wright State finished 2025 with a 7-7-5 overall record and a 4-1-5 mark in Horizon League play, making the Horizon League Championship Quarterfinal before falling to Green Bay 3-1.
