Raiders drop season opener at Bowling Green Thursday night

BOWLING GREEN, OH – The Wright State men's soccer team dropped its 2026 season opener on the road at Bowling Green Thursday night, falling to the Falcons 5-2.
Wright State (0-1) will come home to Alumni Field for its 2026 home opener against Belmont on Sunday, August 23. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
It was all Bowling Green in the first 45 minutes with the Falcons striking for goals in the 13th, 36th, and 38th minutes to jump out to a three-goal halftime lead.
Wright State would respond and score the first goal of the second half from the penalty spot. The Raiders were awarded the penalty in the 54th minute thanks to a handball in the box by the Bowling Green defender. Raider newcomer Alessandro Duran, who caused the Falcon handball, stepped up to the penalty spot and fired the ball past the keeper for his first collegiate goal.
Bowling Green would respond right back with a goal less than one minute later to regain its three-goal lead. The Falcons would tack on a fifth goal in the 83rd minute with a penalty kick of their own.
The Raiders would get one more back in the 88th minute when Brian Burkett played a long through ball up to Tedrick Neptune, who danced around the goalkeeper and placed the ball into the back of the net. The goal is Neptune's first of his collegiate career.
In the box score, Wright State trailed Bowling Green in shots (23-14) and shots on goal (12-6), but led the Falcons in corner kick opportunities (5-2)
