Women’s soccer set for road test at Kentucky

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team (2-1-1) will remain on the road, traveling down to Lexington, Kentucky, on August 30 to take on Kentucky. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Kentucky enters Sunday at 3-1 in the young 2026 season with wins over Detroit Mercy, Kent State, and Dayton. The Wildcats' lone loss came in their most recent match Thursday evening at Ohio State. Kyla Dawn and Nadia Ramadan are tied for the team lead in goals with four apiece.
HISTORY VS. KENTUCKY
Sunday will mark the sixth all-time meeting between Wright State and Kentucky, a series the Wildcats lead 4-1. The Raiders came up short against Kentucky when the two squads last met in Lexington in the 2022 season, falling 4-1.
LAST TIME OUT
Wright State came up short against Marshall Sunday evening despite goals from Alea Cook and Caitlin Burger, falling 3-2.
Cook opened the scoring Sunday evening in Huntington in the 14th minute. Taliah Pellizzari laid the ball off to Cook, who took a dribble and fired a shot from distance that beat the Marshall goalkeeper and found its way into the back of the net.
Marshall would level the score at one goal apiece just before halftime. The Thundering Herd would be awarded a penalty in the 39th minute that Wiktoria Mikrut would take and bury into the back of the net.
Marshall would come out of the halftime break and take the lead in the 49th minute thanks to a goal from Maria Chaves and get an insurance goal in the 80th minute thanks to a goal from Geovanna Souza.
Wright State would make it interesting by getting a goal back in the 89th minute. The Raiders would be awarded a penalty of their own that Burger would calmly take and bury in the back of the net to the goalie's right.
In the box score, Wright State trailed Marshall in shots (17-9) and corner kick opportunities (7-4), while leading the Thundering Herd in shots on goal (6-5).
ALL-LEAGUE RETURNEES
Wright State returns a pair of All-League performers from a season ago. Caitlin Burger returns for the Raiders in midfield after earning All-League First Team honors in 2025. Burger led Wright State with 12 points and five goals, while finishing second in assists with four. Kaitlyn Eyink returns for the Raiders after picking up All-League Third Team honors last season. Eyink played and started 19 games in defense for the Raiders, totaling 1486 minutes.
