Women’s Soccer Kicks Off Conference Play at Alumni Field Saturday

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team (2-5-1) will remain at home to open Horizon League play, welcoming Robert Morris to Alumni Field on Saturday, September 19. First touch is slated for 5 pm.

Robert Morris enters conference play at 3-3-1 on the season and is currently riding a two-game win streak after defeating Akron and UMBC to open the month of September. Madison Sievering paces the Colonials offensively, leading the team in points (6), goals (2), and tied for the team lead in assists (2).

Saturday will mark the 10th all-time meeting between Wright State and Robert Morris, a series the Raiders lead 5-4. Wright State came out on top 3-2 when the two squads met at Alumni Field a season ago.
LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Ella Boettcher scored her first collegiate goal Sunday afternoon, but the Wright State women's soccer team came up short against Indiana State, falling 2-1 at Alumni Field.
Indiana State opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Hailey Morgan found the back of the net off an assist from Meagyn Riffle to give the Sycamores a 1-0 advantage. Wright State was limited to one shot in the opening half and trailed by a goal at the break.
The Raiders wasted little time finding an equalizer coming out of halftime. Just 25 seconds into the second half, Olivia Stroud played a ball to Boettcher, who buried her first collegiate goal to level the match at one goal apiece.
Indiana State answered in the 61st minute when Emely Lopez finished a chance off an assist from Morgan to restore the Sycamores' lead.
Wright State continued to push for another equalizer over the final 30 minutes. Mia Fiore, Caitlin Burger and Ruby Dunlevy each put shots on target, but Sycamore goalkeeper Sofie Zoëga Hansen turned away all three opportunities to preserve the Indiana State victory.
Leigha Lauer finished the afternoon with five saves for the Raiders while facing 11 Indiana State shots.
In the box score, Wright State trailed Indiana State in shots (11-7), corner kick opportunities (7-3), and offsides (8-0). The Raiders recorded five shots on goal compared to seven for the Sycamores.
ALL-LEAGUE RETURNEES
Wright State returns a pair of All-League performers from a season ago. Caitlin Burger returns for the Raiders in midfield after earning All-League First Team honors in 2025. Burger led Wright State with 12 points and five goals, while finishing second in assists with four. Kaitlyn Eyink returns for the Raiders after picking up All-League Third Team honors last season. Eyink played and started 19 games in defense for the Raiders, totaling 1486 minutes.
