Men’s Soccer Set to Face Louisville Thursday

DAYTON – The Wright State men's soccer team (1-2-1) will hit the road again, this time traveling down to the Bluegrass State for a Thursday matchup with Louisville. First touch is slated for 8 p.m.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Louisville is unbeaten so far in 2026, sporting a 3-0-1 record, winning its first three matches of the season before drawing with Indiana Monday night. Giacomo Zizza leads the Cardinals with four goals and nine points on the season.
HISTORY VS. LOUISVILLE
Thursday will mark the 17th all-time meeting between Wright State and Louisville, a series that the Raiders lead 13-0-3. 2026 will mark the first meeting between the two sides since 2001, when the Raiders came out on top 3-2 at Alumni Field.
LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders drew against Lindenwood Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Lindenwood struck first late in the opening half when Luca Bartoni finished a chance in the 41st minute off an assist from Philip Viberg Rasmussen to give the Lions a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Raiders found the equalizer early in the second half. After earning back-to-back corner kicks, Rowen Arnold set up Edoardo De Filippis, who found the back of the net in the 54th minute for his first goal of the season, leveling the match at 1-1.
Wright State continued to push forward throughout the second half, generating seven shots after the break and earning four second-half corner kicks. The Raiders created several opportunities, including a shot on goal from Maximilian Banfi in the 70th minute, but neither side could find a late winner.
De Filippis recorded the lone Raider goal, while Arnold picked up his first assist of the season. Keiji Nakazawa led Wright State with three shots, including two on target. Alex Normandeau played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves.
In the box score, Wright State led Lindenwood in shots (11-9) and shots on goal (4-3), while the Lions held a slight edge in corner kick opportunities (8-7).

Wright State finished 2025 with a 2-13-1 overall record and a 2-7 mark in Horizon League play. Three Raiders earned Horizon League All-League honors in 2025, with Henry Hutchinson and Roman Kedgley being named to the All-League Third Team, while Alessandro Malterer was named a finalist for the Sportsmanship award.
