Women’s Soccer Set for Crosstown Match at Dayton Thursday

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team (2-2-1) will remain on the away from home, taking the short trip across town to take on Dayton Thursday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters Thursday at 1-3 on the season with its lone win coming against Toledo on Sunday, August 16. The Flyers are coming off back-to-back losses at home against Kentucky and Louisville.
HISTORY VS. DAYTON
Thursday will mark the 35th all-time meeting between Wright State and Dayton, a series the Flyers lead 25-5-4. Dayton came out on top 2-0 when the two squads last met at Alumni Field a season ago.
LAST TIME OUT
Wright State fell 9-1 on the road Sunday evening against Kentucky at Bell Soccer Complex.
Kentucky opened the scoring early and found the back of the net five times in the opening 22 minutes of the match. Kyla Dawn recorded a first-half hat trick with goals in the sixth, seventh and 16th minutes, while Nadia Ramadan and Juliette Rayo each added goals as the Wildcats built a 5-0 advantage.
The Raiders got on the board in the 38th minute when Addy Canter converted a penalty kick for her first goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 5-1 before halftime.
Kentucky added four second-half goals to seal the victory. Ramadan scored her second goal of the night in the 61st minute before McKenzie Godfrey, Elkie Bowyer and Dani Chaump each found the back of the net over the final 30 minutes.
Leigha Lauer made five saves in 69:21 of action for the Raiders before Jordan Frantz entered in relief and recorded one save over the final 20:39.
In the box score, Wright State trailed Kentucky in shots (23-2), shots on goal (16-2), corner kick opportunities (12-0), and possession percentage (62-38). Canter and Chloe Dunford accounted for the Raiders' two shots on goal.
ALL-LEAGUE RETURNEES
Wright State returns a pair of All-League performers from a season ago. Caitlin Burger returns for the Raiders in midfield after earning All-League First Team honors in 2025. Burger led Wright State with 12 points and five goals, while finishing second in assists with four. Kaitlyn Eyink returns for the Raiders after picking up All-League Third Team honors last season. Eyink played and started 19 games in defense for the Raiders, totaling 1486 minutes.
LAST SEASON REWIND
Wright State finished 2025 with a 7-7-5 overall record and a 4-1-5 mark in Horizon League play, making the Horizon League Championship Quarterfinal before falling to Green Bay 3-1.
