Men’s Soccer Set for Tuesday Meeting at Xavier

DAYTON – The Wright State men's soccer team (3-4-1, 2-1 HL) will remain on the road to take on Xavier in a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 22. First touch is set for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE MUSKETEERS
Xavier enters Tuesday undefeated at 4-0-2 on the season and 0-0-1 in Big East play. The Musketeers are coming off a 1-1 draw against DePaul in their conference opener Friday evening. Xavier features a balanced offensive attack with 10 different Musketeers recording a goal contribution this season.

HISTORY VS. XAVIER
Tuesday will mark the 31st all-time meeting between Wright State and Xavier, a series the Raiders lead 14-10-6. The Raiders came up short against the Musketeers 2-0 when the two squads met in the pouring rain at Alumni Field in 2025.

LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders fell 1-0 to Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday night in a Horizon League matchup at Hefner Soccer Complex.

The Mastodons controlled much of the match offensively, holding the Raiders to two shots over the 90 minutes while earning seven corner kick opportunities.

After a scoreless first half, Purdue Fort Wayne broke through in the 57th minute. Jonny Hernandez and Daven Arias combined to set up Brandon Razo, who found the back of the net for the match's lone goal and a 1-0 Mastodon lead.

Wright State was unable to generate an equalizer over the final 34 minutes as Purdue Fort Wayne held on for the conference victory.

Alex Normandeau played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save for the Raiders. Edoardo De Filippis and Abiel Gunn accounted for Wright State's two shots on the night.

In the box score, Wright State trailed Purdue Fort Wayne in shots (13-2) and corner kick opportunities (7-4). The Mastodons also held a 2-0 edge in shots on goal.

LAST SEASON REWIND
Wright State finished 2025 with a 2-13-1 overall record and a 2-7 mark in Horizon League play. Three Raiders earned Horizon League All-League honors in 2025, with Henry Hutchinson and Roman Kedgley being named to the All-League Third Team, while Alessandro Malterer was named a finalist for the Sportsmanship award.

Wright State welcomes 19 newcomers – including 10 freshmen – to this season's roster. The Raiders' 28-player roster includes 10 freshmen, nine sophomores, and nine juniors.

Wright State's 2026 roster features players from nine different states, stretching from coast to coast. The Raiders hail from Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio.
