Wright State Golf Supports Gala of Hope's “Long Game” for Local Veterans

DAYTON - Wright State golf is taking part in the Gala of Hope Foundation's Long Game Golf Marathon, a seven-day, 100-hole fundraising challenge running Oct. 22-28 to support local veterans facing cancer. Money raised through the event helps cover immediate needs for local veterans battling cancer, including food, transportation, housing and other essential expenses.
"This is a great opportunity for our guys to use golf to make an impact beyond our own program," said Head Coach Conner Lash. "We're proud to represent Wright State, support local veterans and their families facing cancer, and be part of something that brings the Dayton community together for a much bigger cause."
HOW IT WORKS
Registration is free, and any player or coach can take part. Each participant sets a personal goal for how many holes they will play during the week and raises money through per-hole pledges, with a minimum fundraising commitment of $250. Anyone who raises $2,500 or more earns a chance to win a trip for two to the 2027 Masters, along with additional golf experiences, raffles and silent auction items — including a Skybox 16 package at the 2027 WM Phoenix Open, tickets to the 2027 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and a stay-and-play package at Myrtle Beach's Legends Golf Resort. Participating Wright State golfers will also be invited to attend the Gala of Hope, giving them a chance to meet members of the Dayton community and see firsthand the impact of what they're helping to fund.
TIES TO WRIGHT-PATTERSON
Wright State's Main Campus sits adjacent to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the State of Ohio's largest single-site employer and a defining presence in the university's community. Wright State maintains a formal, longstanding collaboration with the base and supports military-connected students through its Veteran and Military Center, and the university has been recognized as a Military Friendly institution for 2026-27. Wright State Athletics' support for the Long Game reflects that same commitment, extended on behalf of local veterans facing cancer.
