Seniors Pace Raiders at Baumer Classic

FAIRBORN, Ohio — The Wright State men placed third and the women finished fifth Friday at the Mike Baumer Invitational at Fairborn Community Park.
Senior Kalib Tolle led the Raider men across the 5-kilometer course, finishing seventh overall and sixth among team scorers, crossing the finish line in 15 minutes, 30.3 seconds. Freshman Jagger Dollenmeyer placed 12th in 15:37.8, followed by junior Evan McPherson in 14th at 15:49.4 and sophomore Tyler Mimnaugh in 15th at 15:51.1. Junior Matthew Lee completed Wright State's scoring five, placing 25th in 16:03.4.
The men totaled 65 points, seven behind runner-up Ashland. Ohio State won the nine-team competition with 34 points. Juniors Ian Ricker and Michael Gale rounded out Wright State's top seven, finishing 27th and 29th, respectively. Joshua McBride, the lone runner from Utah State, won the individual race, besting the field with a time of 15:02.
On the women's side, senior Elle Lambert paced the Wright State women with a 19th-place finishing time of 19:05.6. Senior Sydney Thompson crossed one second later in 20th, while junior Samantha Seas placed 27th in 19:26.5. Senior Reece Barnitz finished 31st in 19:29.9, and junior Kaitlin Thomas completed the Raiders' scoring five in 33rd at 19:32.4. A mere 26.8 seconds separated Wright State's five scorers.
The Raider women placed fifth among 13 scoring teams with 119 points. Ohio State won followed by IU-Indy, Ashland and Northern Kentucky. Junior Carolyn Johnson finished 36th as Wright State's sixth runner, and junior Alexa Magoteaux placed 53rd to complete the team's top seven. Northern Kentucky senior Grace Biddle captured the women's race in 17:57.4.
Wright State also celebrated their senior class, recognizing seven Raiders in a post-race ceremony. Seniors on both the men's and women's side led their respective squads with Kalib Tolle pacing the men and Elle Lambert in the nightcap for the women. The team also recognized Reece Barnitz, Bryce and Reece Page, Kaitlin Thomas, and Sydney Thompson.
The runnin' Raiders are back in action next Friday night, heading to the Steel City to race in the Colonial Invitational hosted by Robert Morris.
