Jordan Chiero

Jordan Chiero

Jordan Chiero joined the Wright State baseball staff in January 2024 and serves as the associate head coach and hitting coach.

“I could not be more excited to welcome Jordan and his family to the Raidergang,” head coach Alex Sogard at the time of his hiring. “Jordan is a great person, a tireless worker and an outstanding baseball mind. He knows our program well and he will make an immediate and substantial impact on elevating our recruiting footprint nationally. He will be a great asset to our program as we strive to continue producing quality student-athletes that achieve at the highest level.”

In 2025, Wright State hit .299 as a team, ranking 36th nationally with 614 hits. The Raiders scored 532 total runs — seventh-most in the country — while averaging 8.7 runs per game, which ranked 14th nationally.

Wright State earned 16 total All-Horizon League honors in 2025, highlighted by Freshman of the Year and First Team selection Hunter Warren. He was joined on the First Team by Braylen Blomquist, JP Peltier, and Boston Smith. Luke Arnold, Cam Gilkerson, and Gus Gregory earned Second Team recognition, while Blomquist, Gilkerson, and Warren were also named to the All-Freshman Team.

The postseason brought even more accolades. Patrick Fultz and Boston Smith were named to the NCAA Nashville Regional All-Tournament Team. Two Raiders earned ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region honors: Smith (First Team) and Peltier (Second Team). Smith, a senior catcher, also collected two All-America honors, being named to the Perfect Game and ABCA/Rawlings Second Teams.

In 2024, Wright State broke a single-season school record with 112 home runs in their 56 games.  The Raiders finished the year with top-25 national rankings in home runs per game (8th), slugging percentage (8th), scoring (10th), batting average (16th), runs (17th), home runs (18th), and on base percentage (24th).

Prior to joining the Raiders, Chiero lived in both the scouting and player development world for the eight years, serving as the scouting director for PBR Ohio, as the hitting coordinator at Bo Jackson's Elite Sports in Columbus and as an associate scout for the 2023 World Champion Texas Rangers.

As the scouting director with PBR Ohio, Chiero developed deep rooted relationships while evaluating the state’s talent while helping thousands of players find a home at the next level. As the hitting coordinator at the Bo Dome, Chiero personally mentored and worked with over 100 players that went on to play at the NCAA Division I level as part of the over 200-plus players who have played at the collegiate level, as well as having worked with several current professional hitters.

Chiero served as the Otterbein University hitting coach in 2016, guiding the Cardinals to one of the top offensive seasons in program history. The Cardinals ranked in the top 15 in the country in hits per game, doubles, doubles per game, home runs, home runs per game, slugging percentage and runs per game.  Chiero also served as an assistant coach at Wright State in 2015, helping the Raiders to a runner-up NCAA regional finish in 2015 as well as a Horizon League Tournament Championship while working with hitters and infielders.

In his playing days at NCAA Division II Tiffin, Chiero was a four-year letterman, becoming a two-time All-GLIAC selection. Upon graduation, he ranked in Top 10 all-time at Tiffin for most putouts and hits, and still holds single-game records for most home runs (three) and RBI (nine). Chiero played professionally after his time at Tiffin, spending one season with the Taos Blizzard of the Pecos League.

He and his wife, Haley, have one daughter, Cora, and they reside in Hilliard, OH.
