Tom Vance is in his fifth year as a volunteer assistant coach for the Wright State track and field team, specializing in the women's pole vault.
A lifelong resident of Fairborn, Vance was a three-year letterman in track and field and football at Baker High School before graduating in 1975. He was a part of the 1974 track team that captured league and district titles.
A volunteer coach with Fairborn at the high school and junior high levels for 15 years, Vance has also volunteered his personal time to other high school individuals striving to make them the best they can be in the pole vault while also stressing the importance of academics.
Vance, who holds a certificate in Construction Management from the University of Cincinnati, is currently a partner in B&B Building Group located in Englewood, Ohio. He and his wife of 28 years, Janet, have one son and two daughters along with five grandchildren.
