Track & Field set to kick off indoor season this weekend

DAYTON — The Wright State track and field program opens its 2025-26 indoor season with a pair of meets this weekend, first on Friday with a small group at the GVSU Holiday Open before a full contingent set for action on Saturday at the Tiger Opener over at Wittenberg.

The GVSU Holiday Open will see a new meet-high 1,113 athletes competing in at least one event on Friday, with more than 1,400 total entries. The action will take place from 12 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. in Michigan, with Andrew Bugner, Michael Gale, Evan McPherson, Blake Rodgers, Emmitt Slabach and Patrick Statzer set to compete for the Raiders. The Tiger Opener inside the Steemer Center will begin at 11 a.m. with field events, followed by running events starting at 12:40 p.m. The season-opening meet will stream live on the Tiger Sports Network, while Live Results can be found here.

Wright State will have nearly 40 Raiders competing at the Tiger Opener. Wright State women competing include: Olivia Aills, Ava Bosticco, Olivia Cercone, Katlyn Delgado-Heaberlin, Alaina Freeze, Ava Hulett, Adriana Kremer, Abbey Pucket, Molly Spiker, Ava Stalter, Heidi Stammen and Taryn Stills. Raider men competing include: Elliot Brady, Nathan Bright, Aiden Clendenin, Michael Cole, Thomas Cook, Santino Diligente, Logan Eggert, Jack Fleming, Jacob Holbert, Gavin Hutchinson, Anthony Jiovani, Matthew Lee, Jahi McDonald, Wyatt Medure, Landon Monnin, Bryce Page, Reece Page, Greyson Pollock, Huery Reed, Mitchell Reynolds, Ian Ricker, Rick Sibila, Nathan Sheriff, Emmitt Slabach, Caden Sloan, Aboubacar Soumahoro and Kalib Tolle.

The Horizon League released its 2025-26 Preseason Poll on December 3, with the Raider men selected eighth overall and the Wright State women picked ninth overall.

Wright State will take a month-long break from competition for the holidays after this weekend's opening action of the indoor season. The Raiders return to action at the Mastodon Invitational on January 17, kicking off a stretch that will see the Raiders compete in eight competitions ahead of the Horizon League Indoor Championships on February 28 and March 1, hosted by Youngstown State.
