Women's Soccer Runs Past Cleveland State, 4-0

Box Score

The Wright State women's soccer team posted their second straight Horizon League win on Sunday afternoon, defeating Cleveland State 4-0 at Alumni Field.

The Raiders got the scoring started in the 13th minute when Amy Miller notched her sixth goal of the season. Miller took a one-touch pass from Amber Kasmer at the top of the penalty box and drilled a shot into the net from 12 yards out. Kasmer was credited with the assist and Miller scored her first goal since September 16 against Cincinnati.

With the lead at 1-0, WSU continued to attack and Kasmer would break away from the CSU defense and tally the second goal of the match at 17:30. The goal was set up by a long, lead pass from fellow freshman Jenna Cooper and Kasmer netted the shot from 16 yards out into the top corner of the net.

The Raiders then came out of halftime with a solid attack as they launched 16 shots in the second stanza. The third goal was notched at the 61:40 mark when Nicole Amador notched her second goal of the season. Megan Mattioda sent a long pass through the Vikings defense and Amador sent a quick shot to the far post to give WSU a 3-0 lead.

Amador would add an assist on WSU's final goal of the match as her shot was deflected by a CSU (3-10, 0-3 Horizon) defender and found the foot of WSU's Stephanie Habner. Habner sent the shot towards goal from 10 yards out and just inside the post for her first tally of the season.

With her assist on the third goal of the match, Mattioda moved into ninth place on the all-time assists list. The senior has 13 assists during her time as a Raider and has two assists on the year. Miller tallied her 16th career goal which moves her into 10th on the all-time scoring list at WSU.

The Green and Gold used a pair of goalies in the match, as Angie Baker played the final 17:29 in net for WSU and made a pair of saves in the match.

Wright State (8-3, 2-0 Horizon), which posted its sixth shutout of the season, will play its next four matches on the road in League play, starting with a 4:00 match at Detroit on Friday, October 12.
