The Wright State men's tennis team opened the home portion of their schedule against Toledo at Five Seasons Country Club on Saturday. The Raiders took an early 2-0 lead, but dropped the final five singles matches and fell 5-2 to the Rockets.
WSU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the match by taking two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Nick Camilleri and Tony Teufel teamed with Jan Alafriz to take the #2 doubles match.
Then, WSU extended its lead to 2-0 when Teufel defeated Chris Clark from Toledo to win the Raiders first singles match of the season. Teufel took the #1 singles match by scores of 6-3, 6-2 and improved to 1-2 in dual matches this season.
Toledo, though, would win the final five singles matches to post the 5-2 victory over WSU. Nick Camilleri came close to winning at the #2 singles spot, as he fell 8-6 in the first set's tiebreaker and then dropped the second set 6-4.
WSU will next be in action on Saturday, January 26 as then will host the Alumni match at 6:00.
