Dusty Baker To Headline Baseball's 2010 First Pitch Banquet

DAYTON, Ohio - The Wright State baseball program and head coach Rob Cooper has announced that Cincinnati Reds Manager, Dusty Baker, will be the keynote speaker at the 2010 First Pitch Banquet on Wednesday, January 27 on the main arena floor in the Ervin J. Nutter Center. Baker, who has been in Major League Baseball for 35 years as a player and manager, will highlight the banquet that will kick off the 2010 season for the Raiders baseball program.
Baker has been a part of Major League Baseball for 35 years, including 19 as a player, and has been named National League Manager of the Year a record three times by the Baseball Writers Association. As a manager, Baker has led his team to a first or second place finish in their division during nine of his 16 seasons and advanced to the postseason nine times. He has also appeared on ESPN's "Sportscenter" and "Baseball Tonight" during League Championship and World Series coverage.
The First Pitch Banquet will take place in the main arena of the Ervin J. Nutter Center and feature a sit-down dinner. This will be the public's first look at the 2010 Wright State Baseball team and include a silent auction.
Baker will be the fourth consecutive speaker with a tie to the Cincinnati Reds Organization, following Jeff Brantley (2009), Marty Brennaman (2008) and George Foster (2007). Steve Garvey spoke at the 2006 banquet and Jim "The Rookie" Morris was the first ever speak for the WSU First Pitch Banquet.
The cost for the event will be $60 per person, with a VIP table for ten guests costing $1000. The VIP table includes recognition during the program and admission to a pre-event meet and greet with the Cincinnati Reds manager. The doors will open to the public at 6:30.
