
Jesse Hutchins Headed to U.S. Open

Jesse Hutchins, a former Wright State University golfer, used a first playoff hole of a U.S. Open qualifier at Springfield Country Club on Monday to become one of two players in the field to qualify for the Open.
Hutchins shot 71-64 for a two-round total of 135 and beat Luke Guthrie of Quincy, Illinois, in the playoff.
The U.S. Open will be played June 16-19 at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.
At Wright State, Hutchins was a three-time All-Horizon League pick (2001, `02, `03), winning the individual title in 2002. He still holds the school record for the lowest season average of 73.22 in 2003 and the best four-year career average of 74.17.
