Ochs in the thick of individual contention with 18 Regional holes to play

COLUMBUS, OH – Wright State golf senior Shane Ochs is right in the thick of individual competition after two rounds at the NCAA Columbus Regional, sitting in a tie for seventh individually at one-over with 18 holes remaining. As a group, the Raiders are 12th in the 13-team field with one round to play on Wednesday.

The top five teams and the lowest-scoring individual not on an advancing team move on to compete at the NCAA Championship May 29-June 3. Ochs, who is three shots back of individual leader Christian Morneau of Florida, will enter Wednesday as the current lowest scorer whose team is not inside the top five.

Final round action from the OSU Golf Club - Scarlet Course will get underway at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Wright State tees off beginning at 8:55 a.m., with Ochs getting started at 9:39 a.m. off the 10th tee.

Admission and parking are free for spectators to come follow the Raiders during regional action.

After opening his second round with a double bogey and a bogey, Ochs bounced back with birdies in three of the next four holes on the front nine before balancing two more bogeys and two additional birdies on his back nine holes on the way to an even par 71.

As a group, the Raiders were 21-over on Tuesday to sit at 33-over for the tournament in 12th, two shots behind No. 38 South Carolina and three shots behind South Florida in 10th.

Adam Horn battled to a seven-over 78 on Tuesday to enter the final round in a tie for 47th at nine-over overall, with Timmy Hollenbeck one shot back at 10-over in a tie for 50th following his six-over 77 on Tuesday. CJ Scohy, who carded an eight-over second round 79, it 71st at 15-over overall and Ian Asch is 75th at 19-over following a 14-over 85 on Tuesday.
