
Raiders set for NCAA Regional in Columbus

COLUMBUS – The Wright State golf team is headed to the NCAA Championship for the 10th time in program history over the coming days as the Raiders take part in the NCAA Columbus Regional at the OSU Golf Club - Scarlet Course from Monday through Wednesday.
Admission and parking are free for spectators to come follow the Raiders during regional action.
Wright State returns to the site of its best NCAA postseason showing in program history, carding its highest team finish in program history (tied for ninth) while a pair of former Raiders (Tyler Goecke and Davis Root) finished tied for 12th individually at the 2022 NCAA Columbus Regional.
FOLLOW LIVE SCORING
Regional action gets underway at 7:30 a.m. ET on Monday morning, with Wright State teeing off 9:20-10:04 a.m. off the first tee. The Raiders are paired with the various individual qualifiers in the first round. Following Monday's first round, the tournament field will play the second round on Tuesday and the final round on Wednesday with tee times to be announced at the conclusion of each round. Wright State will play a practice round on Sunday in preparation for the three competition rounds.
The grouping of Shane Ochs, Timmy Hollenbeck, Adam Horn, Ian Asch and CJ Scohy will tee off for Wright State in the regional, with Jonas Borland as the alternate.
THE FORMAT
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 18-20. Each regional will feature 13 or 14 teams and five or 10 individual qualifiers. The top five squads and the low individual not on an advancing team, will move on to compete at the NCAA Championship May 29-June 3.
THE FIELD
Florida, Arizona State, Stanford, Long Beach State, Florida State, Utah, South Carolina, California, South Florida, Memphis, Oregon, Illinois State and Wright State .
THE COURSE
The Scarlet Course at the OSU Golf Club will play at Par 71 and 7,422 yards for the NCAA Regional. The Scarlet Course features little elevation change, but a thick rough and tough greens. Jack Nicklaus redesigned all the greens in 2015 to accommodate the Korn Ferry Tour Finals event played yearly on the course.
THE RAIDERS
Wright State captured its 10th Horizon League Championship in Florida last month, tying them for the most all-time in the Horizon, while Shane Ochs grabbed the individual title. Wright State has tallied seven top-five finishes in 11 total tournaments this season spanning the fall and spring schedule, highlighted by the Horizon League Championship and a sixth-straight team title at the Wright State Invitational this month. Ochs was named Horizon League Golfer of the Year and Conner Lash was named the HL Coach of the Year for the third-straight season. In addition to the two major awards, Ochs was joined on the All-League First Team by Timmy Hollenbeck.
