The Wright State baseball team scored a run in the first, but was shut out the rest of the way as UIC won the opening game of the series 6-1 Friday night at Les Miller Field.
WSU tallied that run as Kieston Greene reached on an error to start the game, went to third on a passed ball and a Garrett Gray ground out and scored as Kody Krizman singled to left.
UIC, however, took the lead for good with three in the second and added single runs in the third, fifth and sixth to round out the scoring.
Krizman finished with two hits to lead the Raider offense while on the mound, starter Casey Henn struck out nine in seven innings.
Wright State (14-17, 4-6 Horizon) and UIC (16-14, 6-4 Horizon) were scheduled to play single games on Saturday and Sunday, but due to a forecast of rain on Sunday, the two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2:05 Eastern.
