Baseball set to wrap up regular season at Nischwitz Stadium against Youngstown State

DAYTON- The Wright State baseball team (25-23, 17-4 HL) will wrap up the regular season this weekend at Nischwitz Stadium against Youngstown State.

The Raiders and Penguins will face off at 3 p.m. on Thursday, 2 p.m. on Friday, and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Wright State will honor its 2026 graduates and senior class with a pregame ceremony on Saturday.

The Raiders swept Youngstown State on the road earlier this season, winning 15-4 on Friday, 8-5 on Saturday, and 20-8 on Sunday. Youngstown State enters the final weekend of the regular season at 12-38 on the season, and 9-12 in Horizon League play. The Penguins are coming off a series win against Milwaukee last weekend, winning game one 13-11 and game two 4-3 before falling 12-8 in the series finale. Youngstown State enters the final weekend at fourth in the Horizon League standings and can move up to the three seed with two wins and three Milwaukee losses.

The Raiders closed out the road portion of their 2026 campaign with a big 8-4 win over in-state rival Ohio State.

The Raiders led wire-to-wire at Bill Davis Stadium Tuesday night as Hunter Warren parked the first pitch of the game over the wall in left field. The homer is Warren's eighth homer of the season. Cy Turner would double the lead a few pitches later, laying down a beautiful bunt single to bring home Andrew Duncan from third base.

Wright State would strike again for three more runs in the top of the second inning to jump out to a 5-0 lead. Warren would get the party started once again, driving in his second run of the evening with an RBI single. Duncan would follow Warren a few pitches later with an RBI double into the gap in right-center. Keegan Holmstrom would drive in the third run of the inning, scoring Holmstrom from third with a sacrifice fly.

Ohio State would get two runs back in the bottom of the second despite the ball not leaving the infield. The Buckeyes would cut the Wright State lead to one with a solo shot off the bat of Dane Harvey in the bottom of the third.

JP Peltier would give the Raiders a run of insurance in the top of the fifth, coming in to score on a fielder's choice.

The Raiders would add two more insurance runs with single tallies in the tops of the seventh and eighth innings. In the top of the seventh, Duncan would park his fifth homer of the season over the wall in left center. Patrick Fultz would follow suit in the top of the eighth inning, launching his ninth homer of the season off the scoreboard in right field.
Ohio State would get one more run on the bottom of the eighth thanks to a Henry Kaczmar solo shot.

Cooper Robinson got the start on the mound for the Raiders and pitched well, going 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four Buckeye batters. Evan Boeckmann was the first man out of the Wright State bullpen and got credited with the first win of his collegiate career. Boeckmann pitched 3.1 shutout frames with two strikeouts. JJ Thompson came out of the bullpen and pitched the final two frames, allowing just one run on one hit while striking out three Buckeyes.

#HLBASE BATTER OF THE WEEK
Wright State utilityman Gus Gregory has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Gregory was a force in the middle of the Wright State batting order as they went 2-1 on the week with a series win at Northern Kentucky. Gregory hit to the tune of a .600 batting average with an incredible 1.892 OPS. The junior was tied for the team lead with nine hits and eight runs scored while leading the squad with nine RBIs, three homers, and 19 total bases. Gregory had multiple hits and one home run in each of the three games for the Raiders.

EIGHT STRAIGHT IN THE HORIZON LEAGUE
Wright State continues to be the cream of the crop in the Horizon League, clinching its eighth consecutive Horizon League Regular Season title over the weekend. The Raiders will once again host the Horizon League Championship at Nischwitz Stadium May 20-23.

WINS AGAINST THE POWERS
Wright State has picked up five wins over four different power conference opponents so far in the 2026 campaign, setting a new program best. The Raiders have knocked off Cincinnati, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ohio State twice. The last time Wright State picked up four wins over power conference opponents was 2017, when the Raiders defeated No. 10 Clemson (Twice), Pittsburgh, and No. 4 South Carolina.

Wright State has been one of the best defensive teams in the country in 2026, currently sporting a fielding percentage of 0.981. This ranks the Raiders 15th in the country and first in the Horizon League.

Wright State has been stretching doubles into triples all season. The Raiders' 21 three-baggers and 0.45 triples per game lead the Horizon League and rank third and first, respectively, in Division I baseball. Andrew Duncan leads not only the Raiders and the Horizon League with eight triples on the season but is also tied for first in all of Division I baseball. Two other Raiders rank in the top 100 in DI baseball, with Cy Turner's four triples coming in at second in the Horizon League and 33rd nationally, and Braylen Blomquist's three triples ranking him third in the conference and 93rd nationally.

The reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year is slashing .374/.560/.443 in 48 games for the Raiders, and those numbers jump to .418/.571/.457 in Horizon League play. Warren leads the Horizon League and is ranked 36th nationally with 75 hits on the season, recording hits in 32 games with 16 multi-hit games. Warren leads the team and the Horizon League with a .375 batting average, good for 59th nationally. Additionally, Warren's .418 batting average in Horizon League play leads all players.

RAIDERS RUN ON DUNCAN
Wright State junior outfielder Andrew Duncan is actively riding a 10-game multi-hit game streak dating back to April 25 at Milwaukee. Over that stretch, Duncan is hitting to the tune of a .591 batting average with a 1.708 OPS. Over those nine games, he has 26 hits, with 11 extra base hits (five doubles, two triples, and four home runs) for 47 total bases.

TURNER TIME
Cy Turner has been heating up at the dish for the Raiders over the last month. Since April 15, the senior is hitting to the tune of a .365 batting average and a 1.408 OPS. Over this stretch, Turner is leading the Raiders in runs scored (24), runs batted in (24), home runs (9), triples (3), and total bases (58). During this stretch, 14 of Turner's 23 base hits have gone for extra bases

In the series sweep clinching win over Oakland on May 3, Turner powered the Wright State offense. The senior came up a single short of the cycle with two homers, a triple, and a double for 13 total bases. Turner was also a run-producing machine, driving in seven runs and scoring four himself.
