The Wright State women's basketball team used an 11-1 fourth quarter run to take the lead for good and went on to claim the Wright State Invitational Presented by Holiday Inn title with a 65-57 victory over Miami Wednesday afternoon at WSU's Nutter Center.

The Raiders trailed until an Emily Vogelpohl three in the final minute of the opening period made it 14-12.  WSU then started the second quarter with layups from Lexi Smith and Chelsea Welch and later extended the margin to 27-17 at the 5:15 mark on a layup by Antania Hayes.
Miami cut the deficit to five on two occasions, only to see Welch give Wright State a 34-27 halftime lead with a jumper just ahead of the horn.
Mackenzie Taylor gave the Raiders their biggest lead of the game at 39-27 early in the third stanza and the differential was still nine before the RedHawks closed the period with a 10-1 run to tie the game at 46, capped off by a Lauren Dickerson buzzer-beating three.
Dickerson, who finished with 30 points, gave Miami a 50-49 edge on a layup with 6:43 left, but WSU went back in front to stay with six straight points, the final four coming from Hayes.  Another Hayes basket and a Vogelpohl three in the final minute sealed the win for Wright State.
The Raiders shot just 29 percent from the field in the second half to finish at 39 percent overall while Miami shot 37 percent for the game, but WSU hit 16 of 24 free throws compared to just two of three for the RedHawks.  Wright State also led 28-20 in points in the paint and 18-5 in points off of turnovers as they forced 16 turnovers while committing only five.
Welch led WSU with 18 points, 12 coming in the second half, while Vogelpohl had 17 along with seven rebounds.  Hayes added 12 off the bench.
Wright State (8-4) begins Horizon League play in the Badger State next week, taking on Milwaukee on Thursday, December 29, at 8:00 Eastern followed by Green Bay on Saturday, December 31, at 2:00 Dayton time.
