The Wright State men's soccer team scored twice in the first half and made that stand up for a 3-1 victory at Portland in the season opener for both teams Friday night as part of the Hensor/Zaher Classic.
What WSU head coach Bryan Davis is saying: "Great team win for us tonight. If you just read stat line, the story is misleading. We controlled the majority of the game and felt really good about a lot of pieces of it. Naturally, when you go up a few goals, your opponent is going to press and put numbers forward which leads to more disruption and opportunities by our opponents. Credit our guys for staying together, weathering the storm, and eventually, as we preached, our third goal put the game away. That's a very good Portland team we played, and coupled with the environment we were in, it was encouraging to see the performance we put forth."
Wright State (1-0) concludes the West Coast trip on Sunday, August 28, with a matchup against Oregon State starting at 6:00 Eastern time.
