WSU, though, answered right back with a 10-1 run to tie the score at 26, the final six coming from Chelsea Welch, and after UIC went back in front with five straight points, an Emily Vogelpohl three in the final minute drew the Raiders to within two at the break at 31-29.
Wright State shot 38 percent from the field in the first half, including four of 14 from three-point range, while UIC shot 41 percent, hitting three of seven from behind the arc.
Symone Simmons gave the Raiders the lead for good with a three to start the third quarter and that triple kicked off a 12-0 burst that put WSU up 42-31, seven of those coming from Simmons.
The Flames closed to within four, only to see Wright State pushed the margin back into double figures at 53-40 with an 11-2 run, the final seven by Welch.
WSU gradually built on the lead the rest of the way, with the final being the largest margin of the game.
The Raiders hit 15 of 31 shots in the second half and were a perfect 12 of 12 at the foul line to finish at 13 of 13 from the stripe for the game.
UIC, meanwhile, made 10 of 31 shots the final two quarters and just one of seven at the foul line.
Wright State also led in points in the paint (30-24), second chance points (14-11) and points off of turnovers (33-13) as they forced 30 turnovers for the game.
Vogelpohl had 18 points and six steals for the Raiders while Welch also had 18 points along with five steals.  Simmons nearly posted a double-double of 15 points and nine rebounds as did Lexi Smith with 10 points and eight boards.  Mackenzie Taylor chipped in six points and six assists.
Wright State (14-5, 6-1 Horizon), winners of five straight and 10 of its last 11, wraps up the four-game road swing on Sunday, January 22, with a 6:00 Eastern contest at Valparaiso.
