Wright State women's soccer won 2-0 over the Oakland Grizzlies Saturday evening at WSU's Alumni Field
First Half Highlights
For much of the half, the Raiders worked to penetrate the Oakland defense, who consistently moved the majority of the team back into the box to defend. At the 27:01 mark of the game, junior forward
Aaliyah Patten received a nice pass from
Sarah Colvin and found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. Both teams finished with two shots for the half.
Second Half Highlights
The second half began much like the first half with the Raiders putting pressure on the Oakland defense. The Raiders pushed their lead to 2-0 on a beautiful over the head pass from freshman
Destiny Johnson to allow junior forward
Kayla Schrubb to run on to the ball in the box and hit a low liner to the right corner for a deflection off of the Grizzlies goalkeeper into the goal. It was the second goal of the season for Schrubb. Sophomore goalkeeper
Maddie Jewell collected her fourth shutout of the season behind a strong defensive effort from the Raiders back line, not allowing a shot on goal in the game.
