The Flames closed to within eight twice in the second stanza, only to see Wright State use a 9-2 run, five of those coming from Chelsea Welch, to take its biggest lead of the game at 32-17 at the 3:28 mark.
The Raiders led 32-19 at the break despite shooting just 29 percent from the field. WSU, though, made 10 of 11 free throws and led 12-0 in second-chance points thanks to a 14-6 edge in offensive rebounds.
UIC started its third quarter comeback by scoring nine of the first 10 points of the period and drew to within two at 36-34 on a Taylor Toney jumper at the 3:18 mark.
The margin was just three until a Welch three and layup keyed a 7-0 run to allow the Raiders to end the stanza up 45-35.
WSU pushed the margin back up to 15 twice in the final period as the Flames would get no closer than nine.
Wright State shot just 27 percent for the game, including three of 15 from three-point range, while UIC shot 34 percent overall and was three of 17 from behind the arc.
The Raiders, though, connected on 27 of 35 foul shots to just six of 11 for the Flames and led 19-7 in points off of turnovers and 14-4 in second-chance points.
Welch paced WSU with 21 points while Emily Vogelpohl had 10 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Lexi Smith had nine points and 13 boards while Symone Simmons added eight points and 11 rebounds and Taylor eight points and five steals.
Wright State (20-5, 12-1 Horizon), winners of 11 straight and 16 of its last 17, starts a three-game road swing on Thursday, February 16, with a 5:30 contest at Cleveland State.
