The Norse tied the game at 23 on a Taryn Taugher free throw with 3:24 to play in the second stanza, only to see WSU regain the lead on back-to-back baskets by Chelsea Welch and Wright State maintained that four-point edge heading into the break at 29-25.
Both teams shot 33 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, but the Raiders held an 11-2 margin in points off of turnovers as they forced NKU into nine turnovers while only committing one.
After Northern Kentucky scored the first basket of the second half, WSU answered with eight straight points, half by Symone Simmons, to push the advantage to 37-27.  Simmons later connected on a three and a layup to help the Raiders go up 48-36 heading into the final period.
Wright State maintained that double-digit margin the rest of the way, with its biggest lead of the game being the final score.
The Raiders hit 16 of 33 shots in the second half to finish at 41 percent overall compared to 10 of 26 in the second half for the Norse, who ended up at 36 percent.
WSU forced 21 turnovers while committing just four, resulting in a 31-4 differential in points off of turnovers.  Wright State also led 46-28 in points in the paint.
Three Raiders finished with 15 points in Simmons, Lexi Smith and Welch, while Emily Vogelpohl had 14.  Smith and Welch each posted double-doubles with 14 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
Wright State (18-5, 10-1 Horizon), who moved into first place in the league standings with the win and Green Bay's loss at Detroit Mercy, has won nine straight and 14 of its last 15 overall.  The Raiders conclude their five-game homestand with a pair of games next week, taking on Valparaiso at 4:00 on Thursday, February 9, and UIC on Saturday, February 11, at 4:30.
