Softball Falls Twice at Youngstown State

The Wright State softball team dropped a pair of games at Youngstown State on Tuesday in Horizon League play, falling 4-1 in the opener and 11-3 in the nightcap.

The Raiders led 1-0 in the second inning of game one as Kelly Dillow singled in pinch-runner Tori Walker, only to see the Penguins tie it in the bottom of the frame and then go in front to stay an inning later on a three-run home run by Maddi Lusk.

Dillow finished with two hits in the opener.

In game two, WSU scored twice in the first, including a Libby Pfeffer RBI double, but YSU responded quickly with five runs in their half of the inning.  The Penguins added another run in the second and two in the third to go up 8-2.

Becka Peterson plated Honnah Susor, who had three hits and two runs scored in the second game, with a sacrifice fly in the fifth before YSU closed out the game on a Tatum Christy three-run home run in the sixth.

Wright State (14-23, 9-5 Horizon) and Youngstown State (19-24, 7-7 Horizon) close out the series with a single game on Wednesday at 1:00.
