Zane Collins and Derek Hendrixson combined on a four-hit shutout as the baseball team completed a Horizon League series sweep of Oakland Sunday with a 7-0 decision at Nischwitz Stadium.
The Raiders opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the second after the first two batters were retired. Brandon Giltrow singled through the left side of the infield and after Matt Morrow walked, JD Orr doubled in Giltrow and Morrow scored as Adrian Marquez reached on an error.
WSU's lead increased to 3-0 in the third as Nick Weybright executed the safety squeeze to plate Gabe Snyder, who had doubled and advanced to third on a Seth Gray hit.
The margin grew to 6-0 in the fifth on a three-run home run by Zach Weatherford to left, his second of the season, with the final run coming in the ninth on a Morrow sacrifice fly.
Collins (4-2) pitched the first eight innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out six. Hendrixson threw the ninth, giving up no hits while fanning one.
Offensively, Orr and Marquez each had three hits while Morrow and Gray both had two.
