On a mild summer evening at Wright State's Alumni Field Friday night, the WSU men's soccer team drew a 0-0 double overtime tie with Fort Wayne to open the 2017 season.
First Half Highlights
The Raiders came out strong with six shots to just five for the Mastodons in the first 45. AJ Patterson and
Alec Philippe each notched two shots while Stefan Rockvic and
Luke Treadway each had one shot. The Raiders continued to grind for opportunities without a goal.
Second Half Highlights
The second stanza looked much like the first as Fort Wayne turned the shots total and led 6-5. WSU keeper
Joel Sundell came up big with four saves in the second half, finishing with five total.
Overtime
Chances came for both teams in the extra two, ten-minute periods as Wright State registered three more shots to just two by Fort Wayne (0-0-1). Patterson ended with five shots while Rokvic and Philippe each had three shots.
Next Up
The Raiders (0-0-1) will host Cincinnati Monday at 7 pm.
