Women's Basketball Holds On for OT Win at NKU

Raiders are now 4-1 in the League

The Wright State women's basketball team built a 28-23 halftime lead but saw it disappear as Northern Kentucky forced overtime just to have the Raiders come back for a 68-63 road win Saturday afternoon in overtime.  Wright State is now 13-4 and 4-1.

Senior Chelsea Welch led three players in double-figure scoring with 15 points as the Raiders dominated the boards 44-30.

GAME SUMMARY

First Half Highlights
  • The Raiders led 20-14 at the first quarter after jumping out to an 11-2 start.
  • Wright State headed to the locker room with a 28-23 lead at half.
  • Welch had eight points, four rebounds and three assists in the first 20 minutes.
  • Breaunna Lloyd came off the bench to collect seven points.
  • Lexi Smith had six points while Mackenzie Taylor added five points.

"We didn't play as well as I would have liked but give defensive credit to NKU.  We found a way to battle, and showed a lot of mental and physical toughness. Sometimes it isn't pretty, but you have to get it done anyway."
