The Wright State volleyball team hosted a rare mid-week match Wednesday night against Oakland and beat the Grizzlies 3-0 by scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-16. WSU is now 13-12 and 5-8 while OU drops to 9-15 and 5-8.
Celia Powers led the way with 13 kills while hitting .346 and Alannah Lemming added eight kills with six each from Abby Barcus and Grace Hauck. Lainey Stephenson finished with 31 assists and 14 digs as Jenna Story had 16 digs. Powers also put up six blocks overall as WSU hit .196.
First Set
The Raiders took control early as the Grizzlies clawed back to tie the set at nine each. The scorer flipped back and forth until WSU went ahead and finished the win 25-21. Lemming and Hauck came out strong with five kills each as Stephenson collected 13 assists and eight digs.
Second Set
WSU took early leads to see OU bounce back but the Raiders drew off the home crowd to win 25-19. It was Powers turn as she collected seven kills and hit .417. Story had two aces.
Third Set
The Grizzlies looked determined early as they took leads but the Raiders pulled together to solidify the win 25-16. Powers continued to supply the heat with four more kills as the Raiders hit .375 overall.
Next Up
The Raiders will be back in action Sunday at Green Bay at 3 pm eastern on ESPN3.
