Indianapolis, Ind. – The Horizon League released it's yearly honors for women's soccer on Monday, naming its Players of the Year, along with All-Conference First and Second team, and the All-Freshman team. Four Raiders were honored in total, highlighted by senior Aaliyah Patten winning both conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, and being named to the All-Conference First Team.
Junior goalkeeper Maddie Jewell was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team, along with senior midfielder Mattie Cutts. Jewell posted a regular season goals against average of 1.58, while making 62 saves for a .705 save percentage. Mattie Cutts was second on the Raiders in points with 11 (four goals, three assists), and had the second most shots on goal of any Raider with 10.
Freshman forward Taylor Ulrich was the fourth and final Raider honored by the Horizon League Monday, as she was named to the All-Horizon League Freshman Team. Ulrich played a big part of the Raiders success this season, playing the fourth most minutes (1160) of any outfield player for the green and gold this season.
Aaliyah Patten is the first Raider women's soccer player to be named the Horizon League Player of the Year, and it was well-deserved with the impact she had on the Wright State team this season. Patten led the Raiders in goals (four), assists (five), points (13), and shots (45) for the 2018 regular season. Patten's balanced game this year landed her in the top five of various statistical categories, leading the league's coaches to honor her as both the Player of the Year and the Offensive Player of the Year.
The Raiders will battle the Detroit Mercy Titans Monday night at Alumni Field looking to advance to the Horizon League Tournament semi-finals. Kick-off is set for 7:00 pm, and can be streamed live on ESPN+
