@WSU_WSoccer Takes Care of UIC at Home on Saturday

The Wright State women's soccer team was back in action Saturday, when the UIC Flames came to Alumni Field for an afternoon contest.  WSU scored early to cruise to a 3-1 win.

First Half
The Raiders wasted no time opening the scoring against the Flames, as Aaliyah Patten had a ball land at her feet in the left side of the box in the fourth minute, and she turned and fired it far post past UIC goalkeeper Tara Khayam to put the Raiders on top 1-0. Less than six minutes later, Reagan Clark tallied her first goal of the season, and the first of her career, to put Wright State up 2-0. The green and gold controlled play for the beginning of the second half, but UIC would not be held down. The Flames closed the shots gap near the end of the first, and were able to narrow the deficit in the 37th minute off a deep shot from leading scorer Emily Kavanaugh. At the halftime whistle, the Raiders led 2-1.

Second Half

For the first ten minutes of play in half number two, the Raiders generated the majority of offensive chances, regaining their shots advantage. In the 59th minute, Jordyne Helinski restored the Raiders' two goal lead at 3-1 with her second tally of the year. It was a mostly quiet afternoon for Raiders keeper Maddie Jewell, as only three of UIC's 10 shots were on goal. The Raiders held their 3-1 to the final whistle, and moved to 4-6-2, and 3-1-1 in Horizon League play.

Up Next
The Raiders will again take six days off before playing their next match next Saturday, when the Jaguars of IUPUI come to Alumni Field for a 7:00 pm kick-off. The match will be carried live on ESPN+.
