Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | AJ Schraffenberger

@WSU_Mens_Soccer Falls to UIC in the Championship Match

The 18th nationally ranked Wright State men's soccer team was in action yet again Saturday night, as they competed for the Horizon League Tournament championship. On a below-freezing night in Dayton, Ohio, the Raiders surrendered two first half goals, and were unable to surmount a full comeback in the second half, falling 3-1 to UIC.

First Half
The match got off to the worst possible start for the green and gold, as just five minutes into the match they conceded a goal to the Flames in the person of Josiah Ash. The Raiders surrendered a second goal late in the first half as Pau Mateo put the Flames on top 2-0 at the break.

Second Half
The Raiders battled throughout the entirety of the second half, looking to get men forward and mount any type of attack. The Flames did an excellent job of rallying to tackle and keeping Wright State away from the dangerous areas of the field. The Raiders were finally able to get a breakthrough in the 82nd minute as Dominik Tajak finished off a Deri Corfe pass to draw the green and gold back to within one. The spark was lit for Wright State at that point, as they continued to scramble to try to get the equalizing goal. The Flames were able to fend off the attack, and the surplus of Raiders forward on the pitch led to a counter attack for UIC, allowing Josiah Ash to net his second of the game in the 88th minute, sealing the victory for the Flames.
