Four Raiders Score in Double Digits

The Wright State men's basketball team was in action Tuesday night at home as they defeated Morehead State 78-67 at the WSU Nutter Center.

Four Raiders scored in double-figures, led by Loudon Love with his sixth double-double at 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Bill Wampler and Cole Gentry each finished with 18 points as Skyelar Potter added 12.  Mark Hughes ended with eight rebounds, and a career-high eight assists.  Morehead State played well inside with 38 points in the paint to WSU's 24 but the Raiders outscored the Eagles 19-11 on turnovers and 20-11 off the bench.  WSU shot 42% while MSU hit at a clip of 50% overall.  Wright State won the boards 34-30.

First Half
A fast start by the Eagles gave them an early 9-5 lead, but the Raiders fought back to a 14-11 advantage by 11:12.  WSU's lead increased to 27-14 by 5:30 remaining.  MSU went on a 10-0 run to take the lead at half 34-31.  Potter led WSU with 11 points on three threes and Gentry ended the first 20 minutes with eight points while Love had six points and five rebounds.  Each team had five threes while WSU outrebounded the Eagles 15-14.

Second Half
The final 20 minutes started as the first half ended with MSU scoring and taking a 38-32 lead but WSU came back to tie the score at 38.  The Raiders took the lead 42-38 on back to back Wampler baskets and further at 49-44 at the 12-minute timeout.  WSU pulled away for the win 78-67, outscoring Morehead 47-33 in the second half.  Love had 13 points while Wampler collected 14 and Gentry 10 in the final 20 minutes.  The Raiders connected on 16 of 20 free throws and hit five threes.

Nagy Says
"We are struggling defensively, giving up 50% from the field and offensively nothing comes easy. But, the kids really responded after the early timeout in the second half from the 17-12 minute marks, they made several plays, offensive rebounds and hustle plays that got us the lead back."
